Long Island Lutheran's standout guard, Olivia Jones, has been selected to represent Team USA at the 2025 FIBA U16 Women's AmeriCup in Irapuato, Mexico, this June. This marks a significant milestone in Jones's basketball career, as she joins 11 other top underclassmen from across the nation on the prestigious roster.
Jones, a five-star recruit ranked No. 16 in ESPN's HoopGurlz Super 60 for the Class of 2026, has been a force on the court throughout her high school tenure. After averaging 17 points per game as an eighth grader at Brentwood High School, she transferred to Long Island Lutheran, where she continued to elevate her game. As a junior, she posted impressive averages of 19.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, competing against elite national competition.
Her selection to the national team followed a rigorous four-day trial in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she stood out among a competitive field of athletes. Jones's inclusion is particularly noteworthy, as she is the only member of the Class of 2026 to make the team, highlighting her exceptional talent and dedication.
The USA U16 Women's team will commence their AmeriCup campaign on June 16 against Venezuela, followed by matchups with Puerto Rico on June 17 and Argentina on June 18. All games are scheduled to tip off at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
As she prepares to represent the red, white, and blue, Olivia Jones continues to exemplify the skill, leadership, and determination that have become hallmarks of LuHi Athletics.
